Trukai supports education in PNG

Trukai Industries Limited has donated K20,000 to a non-profit organization to help assist rural schools in the country.

Trukai is the Gold Sponsor for Project Yumi Incorporated’s education project, which has reached more than 100 schools throughout the country since its inception in 2009. 

Trukai will be supporting the organization’s ‘project where the company’s donation will go towards purchasing student’s desks, chairs, blackboard, teacher’s desk and chair, bookshelf, reading books, teacher’s resource box and stationaries.

Trukai Industries Limited’s Marketing Manager, Maryanne Tom, said that the company will continue to build on its commitment to the community through partnerships with organizations like Project Yumi.

“We are pleased to partner with organizations such as Project Yumi as we continue to strengthen our commitment to the people by working with organizations that touch the lives of disadvantaged Papua New Guineans.

Through our ESG programs, over the years, we have invested back into the country through cash and sustainable rice donations, which we deliver to various organizations nationwide. We’ve shown our support during the aftermath of natural disasters, we support people living with disabilities, charity organizations that support disadvantaged communities, hospitals, schools and prisons,” said Tom. 

Project Yumi’s PNG Regional Coordinator, Jess Bablis thanked Trukai for their timely donation.

“Trukai is culture in PNG and to have the support of one of our favourite brand in the country support our projects, it demonstrates the company’s heart for the people.

“Trukai is one of the first manufacturing (FMCG) companies to show their support to our projects in the country and we hope to continue this partnership into the future with Trukai,” said Bablis.

Project Yumi Inc is an Australian and PNG registered non-profit organization that aims to forge partnerships with local communities in PNG to enhance the quality of education and healthcare.

The organization has several programs, this includes Project Skul, pass it on Project and Project Helt. These programs support more than 100 schools and aids posts in 15 provinces around the country with school and teacher’s resources, medical supplies and building resources.

In addition, the organization also empowers more than 420 high school students in Port Moresby with plans to expand throughout the country to provide foundation skills for young Papua New Guineans to prepare them for their future.
